Chapter 21

1 MANASSEH was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hephzibah.

2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the abominations of the nations which the LORD destroyed from before the children of Israel.

3 For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he erected altars for Baal and made idols, as Ahab king of Israel had done; and worshipped all the host of heaven and served them.

4 And he built an altar in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.

5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.

6 And he caused his son to pass through the fire, and used divinations and practiced augury and appointed men with familiar spirits and wizards; he wrought much which was evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

7 And he set up the image and the idol that he had made in the house of the LORD, in the house of which the LORD said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever;

8 Neither will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of the land which I gave to their fathers, only if they will observe to do everything that I have commanded them and all the laws that my servant Moses commanded them.

9 But they did not hearken; and Manasseh seduced them, and they did more evil than did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.

10 And the LORD spoke by his servants the prophets, saying,

11 Because Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah has done these abominations and has done more wickedly than all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and has made Judah also sin with his idols;

12 Therefore thus says the LORD God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Judah and upon Jerusalem that whoever hears of it, both his ears shall tingle.

13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria and the plummet of the house of Ahab; and I will smite Jerusalem and destroy it because of all the abominations which Manasseh had done in Judah.

14 And I will forsake the remnant of my inheritance and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and be trampled under the feet of all their enemies,

15 Because they have done that which was evil in my sight and have provoked me to anger since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even to this day.

16 Moreover Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another, besides his sins wherewith he made Judah sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.

17 Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh and all that he did and the sins that he sinned, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah.

18 And Manasseh slept with his fathers and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of the treasury; and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

19 Arnon was twenty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Meshullemeth, the daughter of Haduz of Jotbath.

20 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father Manasseh had done.

21 And he walked in all the ways that his father walked and served the idols that his father served and worshipped them;

22 And he forsook the LORD God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of the LORD.

23 And the servants of Amon conspired against him and slew him in his own house.

24 And the people of the land slew all those that had conspired against King Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.

25 Now the rest of the acts of Amon and all that he did, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah.

26 And they buried him in his sepulchre in the garden of the treasury; and Josiah his son reigned in his stead.

6 Und6213 ließ seinen Sohn1121 durchs Feuer784 gehen5674 und achtete auf Vogelgeschrei5172 und Zeichen6049 und hielt Wahrsager178 und Zeichendeuter3049; und tat6213 des viel7235, das dem7451 HErrn3068 übel gefiel, damit er ihn5869 erzürnete.

7 Er setzte7760 auch einen Haingötzen, den er gemacht hatte6213, in das Haus1004, von welchem der HErr3068 zu David1732 und zu Salomo8010, seinem Sohn1121, gesagt559 hatte: In diesem Hause1004 und zu Jerusalem3389, die ich erwählet habe977 aus allen Stämmen7626 Israels3478, will ich meinen Namen8034 setzen7760 ewiglich5769,

8 und will den Fuß Israels3478 nicht3254 mehr bewegen5110 lassen vom Lande127, das ich ihren Vätern1 gegeben5414 habe6213, so doch, so sie7272 halten8104 und tun nach allem, das ich geboten6680 habe, und nach allem Gesetz8451, das mein Knecht5650 Mose4872 ihnen geboten6680 hat.

9 Aber sie8582 gehorchten8085 nicht7451, sondern8045 Manasse4519 verführete sie, daß sie ärger taten denn die Heiden1471, die der HErr3068 vor6440 den Kindern1121 Israel3478 vertilget hatte6213.

10 Da redete1696 der HErr3068 durch3027 seine Knechte5650, die Propheten5030 und sprach559:

11 Darum daß Manasse4519, der König4428 Judas, hat diese Greuel8441 getan6213, die ärger sind denn alle Greuel, so die Amoriter567 getan7489 haben, die vor6440 ihm gewesen sind, und hat auch Juda3063 sündigen2398 gemacht6213 mit seinen Götzen1544,

12 darum spricht559 der HErr3068, der GOtt430 Israels3478, also: Siehe, ich will935 Unglück7451 über Jerusalem3389 und Juda3063 bringen, daß, wer es hören8085 wird, dem sollen seine8147 beiden Ohren241 gellen6750.

13 Und will über Jerusalem3389 die Meßschnur6957 Samarias8111 ziehen5186 und das Gewicht des Hauses1004 Ahab256; und will Jerusalem3389 ausschütten4229, wie6440 man Schüsseln6747 ausschüttet, und will sie4229 umstürzen2015.

14 Und ich will etliche meines Erbteils5159 überbleiben lassen5203 und sie geben5414 in die Hände3027 ihrer Feinde341, daß sie ein Raub957 und Reißen4933 werden aller ihrer Feinde341,

15 darum daß sie getan6213 haben, das mir übel gefällt5869, und haben mich erzürnet3707 von4480 dem7451 Tage3117 an, da ihre Väter1 aus3318 Ägypten4714 gezogen sind, bis auf diesen Tag3117.

16 Auch vergoß8210 Manasse4519 sehr3966 viel7235 unschuldig5355 Blut1818, bis daß6310 Jerusalem3389 hie und4390 da voll ward; ohne die Sünde2403, damit er Juda3063 sündigen2398 machte6213, daß6310 sie taten, das dem7451 HErrn3068 übel gefiel5869.

17 Was aber mehr von Manasse4519 zu sagen ist3789, und3499 alles, was er getan6213 hat2398, und3117 seine Sünde2403, die er tat, siehe, das1697 ist geschrieben in der Chronik5612 der Könige4428 Judas.

18 Und Manasse4519 entschlief7901 mit seinen Vätern1 und ward begraben6912 im Garten1588 an seinem Hause1004, nämlich im Garten1588 Usas5798. Und sein Sohn1121 Amon526 ward König4427 an seiner Statt.

19 Zweiundzwanzig6242 Jahre8141 alt1121 war Amon526, da er König4427 ward4427, und regierete zwei8147 Jahre8141 zu Jerusalem3389. Seine8147 Mutter517 hieß8034 Mesulemeth, eine Tochter1323 Haruz2743 von Jatba.

20 Und tat, das dem7451 HErrn3068 übel gefiel5869, wie sein Vater1 Manasse4519 getan6213 hatte6213,

24 Aber das776 Volk5971 im Lande schlug5221 alle, die den Bund gemacht7194 hatten wider den König4428 Amon526. Und das776 Volk5971 im Lande machte4427 Josia2977, seinen Sohn1121, zum Könige an seiner Statt.
